With a tightly bunched leaderboard, the final round of match play Saturday for the Mark Roth-Marshall Holman PBA Doubles Championships will provide plenty of drama.

After Friday night’s opening round of Baker match play, Norm Duke and Wes Malott emerged as the team to beat with six games of round robin match play remaining at FireLake Bowling Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Duke and Malott have a 34-game total of 8,185 and went 5-1 in match play in the opening round to claim the top spot. Defending champions Jason Belmonte and Bill O’Neill are right behind them in second after going 6-0 in matches to total 8,173.

Results: PBA Doubles Championship Round 1 Match Play

Patrick Girard, who earlier in the day advanced to the stepladder finals of the PBA Oklahoma Open, and his partner Zacharay Wilkins occupy the third spot with 8,159. Sam Cooley and Anthony Lavery-Spahr are fourth with 8,111.

Rounding out the top five are Kyle Sherman and Brad Miller, whose 3-3 match-play record helped them total 8,056.

All 12 teams return Saturday morning at 11 a.m. Eastern live on FloBowling for the final six games of round robin match play with the top five teams advancing to the stepladder finals, which will be taped Sunday for broadcast on Jan. 20.
