COLUMBUS, Ohio – Jason Belmonte extended his lead to more than 200 pins Friday in the second round of match play at the 2019 PBA Players Championship.

Belmonte, who has a 13-3 match play record, has a total of 8,244, a 231 average, and put even more of a cushion between himself and the rest of the field with eight games of match play remaining. He led by 127 pins coming into the day.

Match play resumes at 6 p.m. Eastern on Friday live on FloBowling to determine the five players who will advance to Sunday’s stepladder finals at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.

Anthony Simonsen currently stands as Belmonte’s top competition this week but sits 215 pins off the lead. Simonsen has gone 12-3-1 in matches and has a total of 8,029.

DJ Archer is next in the standings, sitting in third, with 7,872 and a 13-2-1 record. Defending champion Tom Smallwood is fourth with 7,835, while Kyle Troup rebounded from a tough opening round of match play to move into fifth with 7,804.

Nine bowlers are currently within 200 pins of fifth place and will have a chance to make up ground in the final round with 30 bonus pins awarded for each victory.
