This is the second of a seven-part series looking back on Anthony Simonsen’s titles on the PBA Tour. Be sure to watch FloBowling’s first documentary titled “Simonsen: Leave It Behind” live on Sept. 4 at Noon Eastern.

Less than a year after the passing of his mother and just months removed from winning his first PBA Tour title, Anthony Simonsen found his way into the winner’s circle again.

Simonsen won his first individual tour title and became the youngest to ever win a major on the PBA Tour at the 2016 United States Bowling Congress Masters.

“That’s for you, mom,” Simonsen said immediately after locking up the title. “For you.”

After defeating Dan MacLelland, 245-207, in Indianapolis, Simonsen said he dedicated the victory to his mother, Teresa, who passed away in March 2015.

“She did everything she could, both my parents did, to get me into a bowling center,” Simonsen said after the finals. “With her passing, I’ve had good success. This is a major one and this is for her.”
