England’s Dom Barrett and Colombia’s Maria Jose Rodriguez won the season-ending World Bowling Tour Finals on Thursday in Kuwait City.

The culminating event of the WBT season took place a day after the WBT/PBA Kuwait International Open wrapped up. Each player received $12,500 for winning their respective divisions.

Barrett defeated Iceland’s Arnar Jonsson, 276-232, to win the event in a rematch of the championship match of the Kuwait International Open. Just 24 hours prior, Barrett beat the top-seeded Jonsson in back-to-back games to win his eighth career PBA Tour title.

In the men’s semifinal, Jonsson beat Sean Rash, 289-223, to advance.

Rodriguez took down Liz Johnson, 252-234, to win the women’s division. Johnson dispatched Clara Guerrero in the semifinal, 255-232.

The men’s and women’s divisions each had a six-player field who bowled five games of match play to determine who advanced to the stepladder.

The format used points for match wins to determine who advanced to the stepladder finals instead of total pinfall. Two points were awarded for each win, one point for a tie and zero for a loss.

After five games, Barrett earned the men’s top seed with four wins and a tie for nine points. There was a three-way tie at six points between Jonsson, Rash and AJ Johnson.

The players had a one-game rolloff and Jonsson earned the second seed with 232, Rash the third seed with 223 and Johnson was eliminated with 211.

Rafiq Ismail finished fifth with two points and Nick Pate was sixth with one point.

On the women’s side, Rodriguez earned the top seed with eight points after posting four victories. Johnson and Guerrero each picked up three wins for six points. Cherie Tan finished fourth with four points, while Danielle McEwan and Anna Andersson tied with three points.
