The sport of bowling got some positive news Tuesday night when the PBA/PWBA Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles announced it will proceed with the 2020 event as scheduled.

The mixed doubles is set for July 30-Aug. 2 in Houston at Copperfield Bowl and will be broadcast live on FloBowling.

The announcement comes in light of months of news of bowling events being postponed or canceled amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Details as to any adjustments to the mixed doubles to adhere to social distancing guidelines have not yet been announced.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, event organizers said:

“We know you have questions, but the most important one is answered first.......SABC Mixed Doubles is a go for July 30th - August 2nd. Rosters/Squads will be posted by June 8th.

“We are still working on the adjustments that need to be made due to the current environmental issues. Please bear with us until we can post more information.”

The PBA/PWBA Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles will celebrate its 21st anniversary this year. Over that span, the event has raised more than $1 million in the fight against breast cancer.
