The PBA50 World Series of Bowling, which had been scheduled for next month in Florida, has been postponed, the PBA announced Monday.

The event, which had already attracted a sold-out field of 192 players, was to take place Aug. 8-15 in The Villages, Florida, at Spanish Springs Lanes.

Florida has been hit by a surge in coronavirus cases in recent weeks, prompting the postponement of the PBA50 event.

“The health and safety of our athletes, staff, and host center employees is the number one priority right now” PBA CEO Colie Edison said in a release. “We are very excited to bring the World Series of Bowling format to the PBA50 Tour and look forward to the opportunity to host this event when conditions allow.”

The PBA said the PBA50 World Series of Bowling would be rescheduled but did not announce a date.
