The first cut was made Wednesday night as the 2020 Teen Masters is down to the final two days in Richmond, Virginia.

Caroline Thesier, who led after the first cut last year, is the girls leader, while defending boys champion Julian Michael Salinas leads his division heading into the fourth round of qualifying, which will be broadcast live on FloBowling starting at 8 a.m. Eastern on Thursday.

Thesier leads with an 18-game total of 3,482, a 193.44 average as she jumped from third place to first after the third round of qualifying.

One of the younger players in the field, Kayla Starr, sits in second place with 3,329. As the lone advancing girls junior varsity player, Starr has secured that title and will continue to battle her older peers throughout the next two days.

Rebecca Peracchia is third with 3,304, Kara Beissel is fourth at 3,264 and Brenna Hartzler is fifth with 3,251.

On the boys side, Salinas also jumped from third to first and has an 18-game total of 3,902, a 216.78 average.

Zachary Trimmer is second with 3,813, Bryce Oliver is third with 3,784, Kyle Pranger is fourth at 3,783 and Brandon Bohn rounds out the top five with 3,782.

Surviving Wednesday’s cut were the top 36 varsity boys, top six junior varsity boys, 17 varsity girls and one junior varsity girl.

After six additional games for the advancers, the cut will be made to the top 18 boys while all 18 advancing girls will compete in three six-game rounds of match play, which begins Thursday afternoon. All rounds are being broadcast live on FloBowling.

The Teen Masters only allows bowlers to use a urethane non-flare bowling ball named the PBA Skills 3.02. The patterns are also much different than those used in today’s bowling with the long pattern (42 feet) and short pattern (32 feet) both having just over seven milliliters of oil. By comparison, PBA patterns have between 25 and 35 mL of oil.
