Bill O'Neill led the field by 73 pins as he earned the top seed Monday for match play at the 2021 PBA Chameleon Championship.

O’Neill posted a 10-game total of 2,383, a 238.3 average, at AMF University Lanes in Tampa, Florida, to lead the group of 16 advancers into best-of-five match play.

The Round of 16, Round of 8 and finals for the Chameleon will take place March 16 with the rounds leading up to the show broadcast live exclusively on FloBowling.

O'Neill Says 'Everything Clicked'

Tom Daugherty earned the No. 2 seed with a 2,310 total, while Cristian Azcona was third with 2,286. EJ Tackett finished fourth with 2,276 and lefty Jakob Butturff was fifth with 2,271.

  • No. 2 Tom Daugherty vs. No. 15 Marshall Kent

  • No. 5 Jakob Butturff vs. No. 12 Matt Russo
  • No. 6 AJ Johnson vs. No. 11 Brandon Novak
  • No. 7 Sean Lavery-Spahr vs. No. 10 Shawn Maldonado
  • No. 8 Tommy Jones vs. No. 9 Kyle Troup

In addition to making the cut in his second straight event, Tackett also leads the PBA World Championship qualifying with 20 of 30 games now completed.

Tackett has averaged 235.50 over the past two days for a 4,710 total, giving him a 78-pin lead over O’Neill, who is second with 4,632. Daugherty is third with 4,578, Johnson is fourth with 4,565 and Kent is fifth with 4,525.

The top 30 players after 30 games advance into the cashers qualifying rounds for the PBA World Championship on Wednesday.

The players are also using the animal pattern qualifying for the Mark Roth-Marshall Holman PBA Doubles Championship, although no standings for that event are available yet.
