TAMPA, Fla. – Tom Daugherty will have a shot to win his first major title Saturday after earning the top seed for the finals at the 2021 PBA Guaranteed Rate World Championship.

Daugherty posted a 10-6 record in match play for a total of 12,863, a 224.34 average, at AMF University Lanes to earn the No. 1 seed. The finals will take place Saturday at 2 p.m. Eastern live on FOX (U.S.) and FloBowling (international).

The two-time PBA Tour champion was able to move ahead of EJ Tackett, who had led for much of the tournament, during Friday’s 16 games of round robin match play.

Daugherty: Bowling Near Home Is An Advantage

Tackett settled into the No. 2 seed after going 8-8 in matches and finishing with 12,744, a 223.29 average.

Jakob Butturff, the only left-hander in the field, qualified in the No. 3 position with a 10-6 record and 12,644 total, while Chris Via made the show for the second consecutive year at the World Championship by going 10-6 and totaling 12,424.

Kyle Troup snagged the last spot on the show after posting the best match-play record in the field with 11-5. His 12,379 total was good enough to secure the last spot by 66 pins over Kris Prather.

Troup, who won the PBA Players Championship to start the season, could put a tight grip on the 2021 PBA Player of the Year race should be climb the ladder and win his second major of the season.
