TAMPA, Fla. – Tom Daugherty and BJ Moore earned the top seed Friday night for Sunday’s finals at the 2021 Mark Roth-Marshall Holman PBA Doubles Championship.

Daugherty, who on Thursday earned the top seed for Saturday’s PBA Guaranteed Rate World Championship show, teamed up with Moore to post a 9-6-1 match-play record at AMF University Lanes.

The pair, who first bowled together last year, finished with a combined total of 16,971, a 219.55 average. The show will air Sunday at 3 p.m. Eastern live on FS1 (U.S.) and FloBowling (international).

'Team Second Place' Gets Top Seed

EJ Tackett and Marshall Kent had a chance to hold onto the top seed in the final frame if Tackett could double to win the position round match. Tackett got the first but then went high and left a split to finish with the No. 2 seed.

Tackett and Kent went 6-10 in match play and totaled 16,940, averaging almost a full pin better per game than Daugherty and Kent with 220.53. The match play bonus pins made the difference, however.

Andrew Anderson and Kris Prather made the show for the second consecutive year as they went 9-6-1 and totaled 16,685 to finish third.

Sean Rash and Matt Ogle, who won the doubles title in 2019, earned the No. 4 seed with a 10-6 record and 16,569 total.

Defending champions Kyle Troup and Jesper Svensson snuck into the last spot on the show with a 9-7 record and 16,515 total.

In the final frame of the night, Troup needed a double to put his team ahead of Sean Lavery-Spahr and Dino Castilllo and he was up to the task. Lavery-Spahr and Castillo dropped to seventh in the final standings.

The duo of Jason Belmonte and Bill O’Neill finished sixth, missing the show by 46 pins.
