WSOB Animal Pattern Shows To Use New TV Format

ALLEN PARK, Mich. – The championship rounds for the three animal pattern shows this week at the 2019 PBA World Series of Bowling X will have a format never before used by the PBA Tour in its history.

The four players who advance to each televised finals will bowl a one game seeding round to open the show to determine how they will be seeded for a stepladder.

The highest score in the seeding round will earn the top seed and a spot directly into the championship match. The second highest score will be seeded into the semifinal and the third and fourth scorers will play each other in first match.

While the stepladder format is standard on the PBA Tour, the seeding round has never been used on a PBA telecast. With a two-hour show, the PBA had more time to fill for the animal patterns this year.

At the past two World Series of Bowling in 2016 and 2017, the animal pattern television formats had the four players bowling one game simultaneously with the top two scores advancing to bowl for the title.

In order to have a shot at the title, players will have to make it through Round of 16 and Round of 8 matches earlier in the day for each event. Every match in those rounds will be broadcast live exclusively on FloBowling at Noon and 3 p.m. Eastern on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The PBA Cheetah Championship will take place Monday, the PBA Chameleon Championship on Tuesday and the PBA Scorpion Championship on Wednesday. The televised finals for each event will be at 8 p.m. Eastern on FS1 for U.S. audiences and on FloBowling for international audiences.
