Belmo Resumes Chameleon Title Defense Thursday

After missing the cut in the Cheetah Championship, Jason Belmonte will make his first appearance of the continuing World Series of Bowling this Thursday afternoon.

Belmonte, the front runner for the PBA Player of the Year award, will take on the soon-to-be-retired Josh Blanchard in the Round of 16 in the Chameleon Championship at 5 p.m. Eastern on Thursday live on FloBowling.

Belmonte is the event’s defending champion, having won the 2019 Chameleon title with a 236-194 win over Andres Gomez in the championship match.

The matchup between Belmonte and Blanchard is among several high-profile matches in the opening round of the Chameleon, including top seed Jakob Butturff taking on Anthony Simonsen.

Thursday will be a busy day for the competitors as the Cheetah Championship Round of 16 and Round of 8 will be held that day as well. Following the Chameleon Round of 16, the eight advancing bowlers will compete for a spot on the show starting at approximately 8 p.m. Eastern.
