It’s really tough to do, but let’s look just at what has happened so far in these PBA Playoffs and not at the resumes of the players. If you do that, this is an extremely interesting matchup.

Lavoie has, simply put, looked spectacular so far. In a first-round win over Norm Duke, Lavoie shot 256. He followed that up in the Round of 16 by shooting 300 at Sean Rash.

Contrast that with Belmonte, who shot 205 in his only match so far as he defeated Jakob Butturff in the Round of 16. Belmonte tried to slow hook urethane and to be honest, his ball reaction looked suspect despite the win.

Who has the edge? If you’re just looking at ball reaction so far, this is a very easy decision – Lavoie would have the edge. However, Belmonte is one of the best to ever throw a bowling ball. We’ll give a very slight edge to Lavoie to pull off the upset in this match.
