ATX Invite Preview: Rash Vs. Jones

The opening match of the FloBowling ATX Invite will feature a classic battle of PBA stars as the two players with the most PBA Tour titles in the field battle.

No. 1 Sean Rash will take on No. 8 Tommy Jones to kick off the event at 2 p.m. Eastern on Saturday. The survivor of the match will take on either No. 4 Jason Sterner or No. 5 AJ Johnson in the semifinal.

Both players picked up wins during the PBA Summer Tour but if you look at the average finish position, Rash has a clear advantage, especially down the stretch.

Rash four of the last six shows to close out the summer season adding two second-place finishes to his win. Jones, meanwhile, didn’t finish among the Top 10 other than his victory.

Rash had a clear advantage in earnings with $49,765 pocketed, while Jones made $16,490 over the summer. Although that margin is significantly larger thanks to Rash topping the special USBC Cup prize pool and earning $20,000.

Prediction

It’s hard to bet against Rash given how hot he has been lately and in this matchup of future PBA Hall of Famers, look for him to advance. Prediction: Rash by 20.
